We’re wrapping up the semester in the most unforgettable way — by giving one Journal resident the chance to float above Melbourne at sunrise with Global Ballooning Australia.

This is your moment to soar over the Yarra Valley, watch the first light hit the vineyards, and experience one of Victoria’s most iconic adventures. ️

Whether you’ve spent the semester studying in our cosy spaces, joining rooftop events, cooking with friends, or simply enjoying your room, we want to see your Journal story.

This competition is our way of celebrating those stories and giving one resident the chance to experience Melbourne from a completely new perspective.

🎥 How to Enter

We’re inviting residents to submit a 15–45 second vertical video capturing their life at Journal this semester.
It can be a single moment or a small montage — filmed recently or from any time this year.

A few fun ideas to get you started:

• “Tell us you live with Journal… without telling us you live with Journal.”
• Your favourite Journal memory this semester
• A short “day in my Journal life”
• Montage of study moments, sunsets, events, free food Fridays, room glow-ups, or creative snapshots

Deadline to enter: 14 December 2025, 23:59 (AEDT)

You can:

• Upload your video file directly through the form, or
• Upload your video to your own cloud drive (Google Drive / OneDrive / Dropbox) and paste the shareable link in the form.

plus

• Return transfers from the CBD to the Yarra Valley
• Post-flight buffet breakfast to complete the experience

⚠️ Terms

By entering the giveaway, residents acknowledge and agree to the following:

• Journal Student Living may repost, share, or feature any submitted video across Journal’s official channels, including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, WeChat, the Journal website, and other digital platforms.
• The winner is required to create and share an additional piece of content documenting their hot air balloon experience. This content may be used and shared by both Journal Student Living and Global Ballooning Australia across their respective digital channels.

 

🏆 How will the winner be selected?

All submissions will be reviewed by the Journal team based on creativity, authenticity, and how well the video reflects life at Journal.

We’ll also consider audience engagement (likes, comments, views) on the videos we repost — though it will only serve as one supporting factor, not the sole criteria.

 

📣 When Will the Winner Be Announced?

After the submission deadline, selected resident videos will be reshared across Journal’s social channels throughout December and January. The official winner will be announced at the end of January 2026 via our social channels and Monday Comms.
