Providing assistance with accommodation costs, a Journal Local Access Scholarship can help students make the most of their education at a leading Melbourne university while benefitting from living at Journal.

The scholarship provides eligible undergraduate students from regional or rural Australia with rental assistance at selected Journal properties during their first year of studies.

At Journal, we understand how valuable financial support is to students from regional and rural Australia. That is why we are proud to offer the Journal Local Access Scholarship.

Who is eligible?
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or hold permanent residency status.
  • Reside in a regional or remote area of Australia at the time of application, as determined by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) Remoteness Areas classification
  • Be completing Year 12 in 2026 or have completed Year 12 during 2025.
  • Intend to begin tertiary studies following acceptance of the scholarship.
  • Have accepted, or be in the process of accepting, an offer from a tertiary education provider.
  • Be a first-time resident of Journal Student Living.
