Journal Market Way is opening in Melbourne CBD for Semester 1, 2027, and we’re celebrating with an afternoon and evening of live music, Melbourne food favourites, mocktails, city views, entertainment and tours of our brand-new building.
Come along, explore Market Way for yourself and get your first look at what student living in Melbourne CBD could look like.

Opening night is your chance to step inside Market Way, explore the different spaces and get a feel for what living here could be like.
Tours will run throughout the event, giving you a first look at the rooms, shared spaces and amenities.
And there’s plenty happening as you explore.
Head up to the Level 38 Sky Lounge for views across Melbourne and a DJ set from Melbourne DJ and Toff in Town resident DJ Collette.
Enjoy the city views with a selection of mocktails, including 0% Limoncello, Virgin Passionfruit Marg and Lychee Fizz.
Level 1 will be packed with food and entertainment, with Korean fried chicken, pasta, bao buns, cannoli and Good Brew Kombucha on offer.
The Speakeasy will bring live music to the space with acoustic duo Julian & Gigi, giving you plenty of reasons to stick around and enjoy the celebration.
Market Way’s cinema will be screening a curated selection of music videos from around the world throughout the event.
Of course, there’ll be popcorn and fairy floss to go with it.
Head to the Level 3 Library for a Polaroid booth and take home a few memories from the celebration.
You can also pick up a Journal tote filled with Melbourne favourites.
Market Way has been designed around the way students actually want to live, with spaces to study, relax, meet friends and make the most of Melbourne.
With private rooms, shared living spaces and amenities designed for city living, it’s more than somewhere to sleep between classes.
The opening celebration is your chance to experience Market Way in person before it opens for Semester 1, 2027.
